Health - Non-status people are denied free public health coverage. They must pay for all health care costs which they cannot afford including life-saving medical procedures. This discussion will look at the options available for non-status people in accessing health care as well as the risk of detention and deportation in accessing health services.

Housing - Accessing adequate, affordable housing is an insurmountable barrier for people without status. Entire families risk losing their public housing, if one of their members end up without status. Non-status people face homelessness, harassment from landlords, and further threats of detention and deportation when they do not have a safe, secure place to live. The workshop will address the challenges faced by non-status people in housing as well as resources and strategies for overcoming these barriers.

Education - The Toronto District School Board passed a Don't Ask Don't Tell policy, but there are still obstacles in accessing education for learners. Let us know your experiences with non-status learners and find out ways you can be involved in ensuring access to education.

Shelters, Anti-VAW organization - On October 2nd women's groups and community organizations launched the Shelter, Sanctuary, Status campaign to demand protection for women fleeing violence in the immigration and refugee system. LGBTT2IQQ* - Non-status LGBTT2IQQ* community members not only experience barriers in accessing services, but also face homophobia, transphobia and further discrimination. The workshop addresses ways in which the LGBTT2IQQ* community is further marginalized and ways services can be accessible.
